Who is Joanne?
Joanne Bowmer SOC.Lc, PF.NALP, Q.Inst.Pa, E.C.Dip,
Director & Consultant Property Lawyer
Joanne is a highly experienced legal professional with over 20 years in the legal sector. Beginning her career as an office junior, she progressed through dedication and hard work to become a legal secretary and assistant, all while studying part-time to achieve her legal qualifications.
Her career spans both large, well-established firms and smaller, boutique practices. Joanne’s expertise and leadership led to her appointment as Head of Conveyancing at a Cumbrian firm, where she successfully managed teams and oversaw a wide range of residential property matters. This breadth of experience enables her to provide practical, knowledgeable advice tailored to each client’s individual needs.
Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne Joanne now based in the picturesque Lake District. Joanne remains committed to continuous professional development. She is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in International Law and is also training to become a Notary Public, further enhancing the scope of services she can offer.
Joanne’s reputation is built on professionalism, clear communication, and a genuinely client-focused approach. Many of her clients return time and again, reflecting the trust and long-term relationships she has developed over the years. Joanne has developed a particular focus on military conveyancing, supporting serving personnel, veterans reservists and their families with property transactions that often involve tight deadlines, relocations and additional complexities unique to service life. This specialist understanding is underpinned not only by her professional experience, but also by a genuine personal connection to the armed forces community, as her husband is an ex-soldier and she has close family currently serving.
One of Joanne’s most rewarding experiences has been supporting a serving member of the armed forces and their family with a short-notice relocation. Understanding the pressures that come with military life, she worked closely with them to manage a linked transaction and Forces Help to Buy purchase within tight timescales. By staying accessible, flexible and proactive throughout, Joanne was able to help the family move into their new home in line with their posting.
Her expertise and dedication have also been recognised through multiple awards. In 2023, Joanne was named Best Cumbrian Property Lawyer in the Best of the Best Awards, followed by Business Consultant of the Year at the British Business Awards (Women in Business) in 2024 and 2 awards in the SME Legal Awards in 2025 —further testament to her commitment and excellence within the profession.
