One Mountain. One Mission. One Regiment. Why I'm Taking on This Challenge.

If you've followed JB Property Law for a while, you'll know that supporting the Armed Forces community isn't something we do because it's good for business. It's something we do because it's part of who we are.

My husband, Ashley, served for ten years with The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, completing operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Through him, I've experienced military life from the perspective of a spouse. I've seen the pride, the friendships, the sacrifices and the resilience that come with serving your country.

It's why our firm proudly supports serving personnel, veterans and military families. It's why we launched Beyond the CV to champion military spouses. And it's why, whenever I have the opportunity to give something back, I take it. This September is one of those opportunities.

Taking on Pen y Fan

I'll be joining the Forces Wives Challenge to climb Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales.

The Forces Wives Challenge brings together women whose partners are serving members of the Armed Forces or veterans, creating opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence and support one another through adventure.

For many people, Pen y Fan is simply a beautiful mountain. For the military community, it represents something much deeper. Generations of soldiers have trained on its slopes. It has become synonymous with determination, resilience and pushing yourself beyond what you thought was possible. It isn't just a mountain. It's part of military life and military history.

I'll be climbing alongside other military wives and partners, all taking on the same challenge for causes that are close to our hearts.

My fundraising is supporting The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. Ashley's old regiment.

Although Ashley left the Army some years ago, anyone who has served will tell you that a regiment never really leaves you. The friendships, loyalty and regimental family last a lifetime.

The money raised will help support the regimental family, ensuring that serving soldiers, veterans and their families can access support when life becomes difficult. Whether it's welfare assistance, helping those facing hardship or supporting the wider regimental community, every donation helps make a real difference.

As a military spouse, that makes this challenge incredibly personal.

Why It Matters

People often ask why JB Property Law puts so much time into supporting the Armed Forces community. The answer is simple. Because we've lived it.

We understand the uncertainty of postings, the pressure deployments place on families, the challenge of moving home at short notice and the sacrifices made behind the scenes that so often go unnoticed.

Those experiences have shaped not only my life but also the values of our business. Supporting military families isn't a marketing campaign. It's a commitment.

A Challenge Outside My Comfort Zone

Anyone who knows me knows I'm far more comfortable behind a desk than halfway up a mountain! Pen y Fan stands at 886 metres (2,907 feet) and has earned its reputation for steep climbs, changing weather and testing even experienced walkers. It's no surprise that it has long been associated with military endurance and resilience.

I'm expecting aching legs, plenty of laughs with the other Forces Wives Challenge ladies, and probably a few moments where I'll question why I signed up.

But if climbing one mountain helps support the regiment that gave my husband so much, every step will be worth it.
