Who is Joanne?
Joanne Bowmer SOC.Lc, PF.NALP, Q.Inst.Pa, E.C.Dip,
Director, Consultant Lawyer & Military Property Specialist.

Joanne has more than 20 years' experience in residential property law. Starting her career as an office junior, she progressed through dedication, hard work and part-time study to become an award-winning property lawyer and founder of JB Property Law.

Throughout her career, Joanne has worked in both large established firms and boutique practices, including leading the conveyancing department at one of Cumbria's oldest law firms. Today, she combines that experience with a modern, client-focused approach built around communication, transparency and exceptional service. Joanne Bowmer is now an independent Consultant who delivers her legal services through Carbon Law Partners. JB Property Law Ltd is the marketing vehicle for her independent consultancy practice.

Military Property
Joanne has developed a recognised specialism in military conveyancing, regularly acting for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families across England and Wales. Her understanding goes far beyond the legal process. Married to Army veteran Ashley, with close family members continuing to serve, Joanne has experienced first-hand the realities of military life, including deployments, relocations and the unique challenges faced by service families.

She personally manages every Armed Forces transaction from instruction through to completion, ensuring clients receive consistent advice from someone who genuinely understands military life.

Specialist Property Expertise
Alongside residential conveyancing, Joanne has particular expertise in unregistered property and historic title investigation. Having grown up in a family of historians, she developed an early fascination with old documents, historic buildings and the stories behind them. Today that passion has become a specialist skill, helping clients resolve complex title issues, interpret historic deeds and deal with unusual property arrangements. Her experience also includes complex leasehold matters, Tyneside flats, Church Commissioner properties and other specialist transactions that many firms encounter only occasionally.

Beyond Property Law
Away from client work, Joanne is passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community. She is the founder of Beyond the CV, an initiative helping employers recognise the talent and resilience of military spouses, and actively supports charities, community projects and organisations connected with the Armed Forces.

She is also continuing her professional development by studying for a Master's degree in International Law, specialising in the Law of Warfare and Armed Conflict.

Who is Amy?
Amy Lovely
Personal Assistant to Joanne Bowmer & Beyond the CV Champion

If you've spoken to JB Property Law, there's a good chance you've already met Amy and not even known it.

As Joanne Bowmer's Personal Assistant, Amy helps keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, supporting clients, coordinating the day-to-day operations of the business and ensuring nothing gets overlooked. Calm under pressure, exceptionally organised and always ready to help, Amy is an invaluable part of the JB Property Law team.

Amy also leads one of the initiatives closest to our hearts – Beyond the CV.

As a proud military spouse to a serving Royal Engineer, Amy understands first-hand the challenges that military families face when it comes to employment. Frequent relocations, starting over in new communities and rebuilding careers are experiences she has lived, not simply read about.

Having built a successful career across the education, housing and care sectors, Amy knows the resilience, adaptability and determination that military spouses develop. She is passionate about helping others recognise those qualities and ensuring talented people aren't overlooked simply because their CV tells an unconventional story.

Military life has been part of Amy's world for over a decade. What began when she and her husband were just twenty years old has become a journey filled with adventure, resilience and growth. Together they are raising four wonderful daughters—meaning life outside work is every bit as busy as life inside it! Add a lively Springer Spaniel into the mix, and it's safe to say there's never a dull moment.

Away from work, Amy loves creating memories with her family. A self-confessed spontaneous Sagittarius, she's renowned for booking a weekend away before casually mentioning to her husband that they're leaving in a few hours! When life does slow down, you'll usually find her enjoying a good book, tending to the garden or out on a long walk.

For Amy, supporting people has always been at the heart of what she does. Whether she's helping clients at JB Property Law or championing military spouses through Beyond the CV, her goal is the same: to help people feel valued, supported and recognised for the skills and potential they bring

Ashley Bowmer
Kingsman, Army Veteran & Armed Forces Ambassador

Ashley proudly served for ten years in the British Army as a Kingsman with the 4th Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, including operational tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. His military career, and the experiences that came with it, continue to shape the values at the heart of JB Property Law.

Although Ashley isn't involved in the legal work, his lived experience provides an invaluable perspective on the realities of military life. From deployments and postings to the challenges faced by service families, he helps ensure that JB Property Law's Armed Forces service is built on genuine understanding rather than assumption.

As Joanne's husband, Ashley has been part of the journey of building JB Property Law from the very beginning. He is passionate about supporting serving personnel, veterans and military families, regularly attending Armed Forces events, charity fundraisers and remembrance services alongside Joanne.

Ashley also acts as the firm's Armed Forces Ambassador, helping to strengthen relationships with the military community and supporting the initiatives that sit at the heart of the firm's commitment to those who serve.

Fun Fact
Ashley may have left the Army, but the Army definitely hasn't left Ashley. Household chores are still issued like military orders, complete with military timings. "I'll do it later" isn't a recognised time... it's 1800hrs, not 1801!

Bella Bowmer
Chief Happiness Officer & Head of Shredding

Bella is the heart of the JB Property Law office and takes her role as Chief Happiness Officer very seriously. Whether she's welcoming visitors, supervising the team from the comfiest spot in the office, or ensuring everyone takes a well-earned break, Bella believes a happy team delivers the very best service.

When she's not providing moral support, Bella can usually be found carrying out important quality control on any cardboard deliveries, inspecting parcels, or demonstrating her exceptional document shredding skills (strictly on dog toys, of course!).

Outside of work, Bella enjoys long walks in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside, treats of every description, and making sure nobody leaves the office without giving her a fuss.

Office Specialities
