At JB Property Law, our decision to specialise in armed forces conveyancing wasn’t driven by market trends or commercial convenience. It came from something far more personal, lived experience, understanding, and a deep respect for the unique challenges faced by those who serve.
A Personal Connection to Service
Our founder, Joanne Bowmer, has built JB Property Law with a clear purpose: to deliver straightforward, reliable, and human legal support during one of life’s most stressful processes, moving home. But behind that professional mission sits a personal story that shaped the direction of the firm.

Joanne’s husband, Ashley, served as Kingsman Bowmer with the 4th Battalion, Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment. His service included deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Experiences that demanded resilience, adaptability, and sacrifice.
They experienced first-hand how difficult it can be to coordinate property transactions alongside postings, operational commitments, and tight timelines. That experience became the foundation for something bigger.
Why Armed Forces Conveyancing Matters
Conveyancing is rarely simple. But for armed forces personnel, it often comes with added layers of complexity:
Tight deadlines linked to postings or deployments
Limited availability for communication due to operational duties
Reliance on remote transactions and digital processes
The need for flexibility when plans change at short notice
Traditional conveyancing services don’t always account for these realities. That can lead to unnecessary stress, delays, and missed opportunities. At JB Property Law, we recognised a gap — and an opportunity to do better.
Built Around the Needs of Military Clients
Specialising in armed forces conveyancing means more than simply understanding the terminology. It means structuring our service around the realities of military life. We prioritise:
Clear, proactive communication
Flexibility with timelines and documentation
Digital-first processes to support clients wherever they are in the world
A practical, solutions-focused approach when circumstances change
Most importantly, it means empathy. We understand that when a client says they’re unavailable due to duty, that isn’t negotiable and our processes reflect that.
Why It Matters to Our Firm
This specialism isn’t a niche add on. It’s central to who we are. For JB Property Law, supporting armed forces clients is about:
Giving back to a community that has given so much
Providing a service that genuinely fits the client’s life, not the other way around
Building trust through shared understanding
It also sets a clear standard across the firm: we don’t believe in one size fits all legal services. We believe in tailoring what we do to the people we serve.
More Than Conveyancing
At its heart, this is about more than property transactions. It’s about recognising the pressures military families face and making one part of life, moving home, just that little bit easier.
For Joanne, this isn’t abstract. It’s rooted in her own experience alongside Ashley’s service. It’s shaped by the realities of military life, and it continues to guide how JB Property Law operates today.
Looking Ahead
As JB Property Law grows, our commitment to the armed forces community remains constant. We will continue to refine our processes, invest in technology, and advocate for a better understanding of military clients within the legal sector.
Because for us, this specialism isn’t just a business decision, it’s a reflection of who we are, what we value, and the people we’re proud to support.
