Each June, Armed Forces Week gives the nation an opportunity to show support for the men and women who serve, veterans who have served, and the wider Armed Forces community. While some countries officially recognise Military Spouses Day, the UK does not currently have a dedicated national day to honour military spouses and families.

At JB Property Law, we believe their contribution deserves recognition too.
That is why we proudly incorporate recognition of military spouses, partners, and the wider military family community into Armed Forces Week each year. Behind every serving member of the Armed Forces is often a network of support made up of spouses, children, parents, grandparents, and extended family members whose lives are also shaped by military service.
Their sacrifices, resilience, and support are invaluable and often unseen.
The Strength Behind Military Life
Military spouses and partners are frequently the people holding everything together behind the scenes. They manage homes independently during deployments, support children through periods of change, relocate at short notice, and adapt constantly to the demands of military life.
For many military families, everyday life can involve:
Frequent house moves
Long periods apart from loved ones
Last-minute changes to plans
Career disruption
Living away from extended family support
Emotional strain during deployments
Adjusting to civilian life after service
These experiences require enormous resilience and adaptability. Military spouses and partners often sacrifice their own routines, careers, and stability to support the person serving.
At JB Property Law, we recognise that military service is rarely experienced by just one person. It impacts entire families.
Recognising the Wider Armed Forces Family
While the focus is often on spouses and partners, military life affects much more than the immediate household.
Children may face changing schools, missing parents during deployments, and repeatedly rebuilding friendships and routines. Parents and grandparents frequently provide emotional and practical support, helping families navigate the challenges that come with service life. Extended family members often become essential support systems during periods of separation or transition.
That is why our support extends beyond military spouses alone. We proudly offer discounted legal fees to the wider Armed Forces community, including:
Spouses and partners
Veterans and reservists
Children of serving personnel and veterans
Parents and grandparents
Widows and widowers
Extended family members supporting military households
We understand that service is shared across families and generations, and we believe that support should reflect that.
Why Supporting Military Families Matters
Property transactions can be stressful at the best of times, but military families often face additional pressures and tighter deadlines.
Moves can happen quickly. Deployments may overlap with house purchases or sales. Families may need to relocate across the country while balancing school changes, work commitments, and periods of separation.
At JB Property Law, we understand these pressures because we have experienced them personally.
We know how important stability, communication, and understanding can be during major life transitions. Our discounted legal fees are one practical way we aim to support military families and recognise the unique challenges that Armed Forces life can bring.
But meaningful support is about more than financial discounts alone. We also believe in:
Clear & straightforward communication
Compassionate, understanding service
Flexibility where possible
Appreciation of military timelines and pressures
Supporting clients as people, not simply transactions
Joanne’s Personal Connection to Military Life
Supporting military families is something deeply personal to JB Property Law’s founder, Joanne.
Joanne is married to an Army veteran and experienced military life first-hand as a girlfriend, then as a wife, and later as a new mum during his military career. She understands the uncertainty, disruption, pride, and resilience that military families experience every day.
She understands:
The challenges of managing family life during deployments
The unpredictability of military schedules
The emotional strain of separation
The constant need to adapt
The importance of having trusted support around you
Those experiences shaped not only her understanding of military families, but also the values behind JB Property Law today.
Armed Forces Week: Recognising Every Contribution
As part of Armed Forces Week, we believe it is important not only to recognise serving personnel and veterans, but also the families who support them throughout military life.
Military spouses, partners, children, parents, grandparents, and extended families all play a vital role in the Armed Forces community. Their support helps make military service possible, yet their contribution is often overlooked.
Although the UK does not officially celebrate Military Spouses Day, at JB Property Law we are proud to recognise military spouses and the wider Armed Forces family community during Armed Forces Week. It is our opportunity to say thank you to those whose strength, sacrifice, and resilience support those who serve.
To every military spouse, partner, child, parent, grandparent, veteran, reservist, and family member supporting someone in service.
We see your contribution,
We see your support and,
We thank you.
