At JB Property Law, we are proud to announce that we have become a signatory and supporter of the Pride in Veterans Standard (PiVS), an initiative developed by Fighting With Pride.

This commitment reflects our belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and understanding, regardless of their background, identity or life experiences. We are honoured to stand alongside organisations across the UK that are working to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBT+ veterans, serving personnel and their families.

Who Are Fighting With Pride?

Fighting With Pride is a UK charity founded on the 20th anniversary of the lifting of the Armed Forces' ban on LGBT+ personnel serving openly. The charity was created by veterans with lived experience and works to support LGBT+ veterans, serving personnel and their families, particularly those affected by the historic "gay ban" that remained in place until January 2000.

For decades, thousands of talented and dedicated individuals were investigated, dismissed, discharged, or forced to leave military service simply because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Many lost careers, pensions, medals, homes and support networks, while enduring significant personal and emotional hardship.

Today, Fighting With Pride works to ensure these veterans receive the recognition, support and inclusion they deserve. The charity provides practical assistance, advocacy, community support and guidance while also helping organisations better understand the experiences and needs of LGBT+ veterans.

What is the Pride in Veterans Standard?

The Pride in Veterans Standard (PiVS) is a framework designed to help organisations demonstrate their commitment to welcoming and supporting LGBT+ veterans, serving personnel and their families.

The Standard recognises that some LGBT+ veterans may have experienced discrimination, exclusion or trauma during their military service, which can continue to affect how they engage with support organisations today.

By becoming a PiVS signatory, organisations commit to:

  • Creating a warm and welcoming environment for LGBT+ veterans and their families.

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by LGBT+ veterans.

  • Recognising the impact of the Armed Forces' historic ban on LGBT+ personnel.

  • Promoting dignity, respect and inclusion in all interactions.

  • Understanding and responding to the diverse needs of the LGBT+ community.

  • Supporting positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes for those affected by past discrimination.

The Standard provides organisations with access to resources, training, networking opportunities and guidance to help ensure meaningful and lasting inclusion.

Why This Matters to JB Property Law

At JB Property Law, we understand that trust, respect and equality are fundamental to delivering excellent service. Becoming a Pride in Veterans Standard signatory is an important step in reinforcing our commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

We recognise the sacrifices made by those who have served our country and believe that no individual should ever be disadvantaged because of who they are. As a business, we are committed to continuous learning and improvement, ensuring that our workplace culture and client experience reflect the highest standards of inclusion and professionalism.

Looking Forward

We are proud to support Fighting With Pride and the important work they continue to do for LGBT+ veterans across the UK.

We look forward to engaging with the Pride in Veterans Standard community, learning from the experiences of those it serves, and playing our part in promoting equality, understanding and inclusion.

Together, we can help ensure that every veteran is recognised, respected and welcomed with pride.
