Standing Beside Those Who Serve: Why JB Property Law Supports the Entire Military Community

At JB Property Law, property transactions are never just about bricks and mortar. They are about people, their stories, and the lives they are building.
For us, few stories matter more than those of the military community.

Understanding the Challenge
For many within the Armed Forces, the path to homeownership looks very different from that of civilian buyers. Frequent relocations, overseas postings, and the uncertainty that comes with service life can make it difficult to put down roots.
The Forces Help to Buy Scheme exists to support this. Offering service personnel financial assistance towards purchasing a home. It’s a valuable and often life-changing opportunity.
But like many schemes, it comes with complexity. And that’s where the right support matters.
Why We Do Things Differently
Many law firms charge additional legal fees when handling Forces Help to Buy transactions due to the extra work involved.
We don’t.
Because for us, this was never a business decision. It was a moral one.
“If someone is serving our country, the last thing they need is to feel penalised for trying to buy a home. Removing those extra fees is a small way we can give something back.”
We made that decision early and we stand by it.
Not because it’s expected.
But because it feels right.
Supporting the Whole Military Community — Not Just Those in Service
This is where our passion runs deepest. Too often, when people talk about Armed Forces conveyancing, the focus is placed solely on actively serving personnel. While their contribution is undeniable, they are not the only ones whose lives are shaped by service.
And we believe strongly that they should never be the only ones recognised.
Veterans, reservists, and military families can often feel like an afterthought in these conversations. Yet their experiences are just as complex, just as demanding, and just as deserving of support.
Reservists balance civilian careers alongside service commitments, often navigating two very different worlds at once. Veterans step into civilian life carrying years of service, adapting to new routines, new financial realities, and often making long-term decisions without the structured support they once had. Families, partners, spouses, children live through every posting, every move, every period of separation. They build resilience quietly, without recognition, yet carry so much of the weight.
And still, too often, they are overlooked. That’s why we are so vocal about this. Because for us, supporting the military community means all of it.
“Service doesn’t end when someone leaves the forces, and it isn’t limited to those serving full-time. The wider military community deserves to be seen, understood, and properly supported. Especially when it comes to something as important as having a home.”
This is not a side note in our work. It is at the very heart of it.
More Than Conveyancing — A Personal Commitment
This work is deeply personal to us. JB Property Law is built not only on legal expertise, but on genuine, lived experience. Our founder, Joanne, is married to an Army veteran. Someone who deployed during the early stages of their relationship and was still serving as they built a home, married, and began raising a family together.
We remember the late-night calls, the disrupted conversations, the joy at receiving Blueys (for us both) and trying to fit real life into small windows of time. And we know firsthand that navigating something as significant as a house move in those moments would have felt overwhelming.
That first-hand understanding shapes everything we do from how we communicate, to how we support our clients, and the care we bring to every transaction.
We don’t just see files.
We see families.
We see transitions.
We see people trying to create stability in lives that have rarely allowed for it. And being trusted to support that is something we never take lightly.
“We feel incredibly proud and genuinely humbled to be in a position where we can help. This isn’t just a service we offer, and it certainly isn’t a financial strategy. It’s something we care about deeply, and something we will give everything we have to.”
That belief drives everything we do.
Why It Matters
Homeownership offers something incredibly powerful: stability.
A place to come back to.
A place to build a future.
A place that is truly yours.
For many within the military community, that stability has not always been easy to find.
If we can play even a small role in changing that by making the process clearer, fairer, and more supportive then we will.
Not because it’s profitable.
Not because it’s easy.
But because it matters.
