Founder Joanne Bowmer and her husband Ashley, a former soldier who served alongside the Welsh Guards, will be attending a major remembrance event in Wales on Saturday 27 June 2026:
Welsh Guards Afghanistan Memorial Unveiling – Wrexham
This important national event will take place in Wrexham, bringing together serving personnel, veterans, families, and friends of the Regiment to honour those who lost their lives during operational deployments, including Operation Herrick 10 & 16 in Afghanistan, as well as those who served in the Falklands conflict.
A newly commissioned memorial, crafted from a single piece of Welsh slate sourced from Blaenau Ffestiniog, will be officially unveiled. The memorial bears the names of 12 members of the Welsh Guards battlegroup and will serve as a permanent place of remembrance, reflection, and respect.
The day will include:
A church service at St Giles’ Church, Wrexham
A parade led by the Regimental Band of the Welsh Guards
Wreath-laying at Bodhyfryd Memorial Gardens
A reception and evening gathering for families and veterans
